Gross Rentable Area is a term used describe the total sum of all rentable areas in a building that can be leased to tenants, including their pro rata shares of common area, but excluding major vertical penetrations like elevator shafts and stairwells. Gross Rentable Area is not an official BOMA term, though it may be found in some leasing and rental contracts.
