CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software is used to create precisely scaled technical drawings in 2D and 3D. For buildings and structures, CAD is used to draft floor plans, elevations, sections, and detailed 3D models. The AutoCAD DWG format is the industry leader, however, there are many different CAD applications, formats, and vendors with various costs and capabilities.
