Tenant Ancillary Area - Extended Circulation

Hello,

I'd like to confirm that I am interpreting the BOMA 2017 Standards for Office Buildings correctly.

Is it true that in Publicly Accessible floors there cannot be Extended Circulation? If a corridor provides exclusive access to a Tenant Suite, it is to be considered Base Building Circulation for Method B calculations. Is this correct?

Looking forward to your response!

Thanks,
Julie Pomeroy

Hi Julie,

It is possible to have Extended Circulation on a Publicly Accessible Floor if there are any other corridor extensions, standalone corridors or shared vestibules that provide access to Tenant Areas exclusively. Generally not all areas of a Publicly Accessible Floor are accessible or required to be accessible to the public. There really is no difference in the allocation of Extended Circulation on a Publicly Accessible Floor versus a non-Publicly Accessible Floor in Method A or Method B.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
David
