Elevator Mechanic

Another question for you. I saw that elevator pits are considered as MVP in BOMA96 standard. What should the elevator mechanic be considered: MVP or Building Common Area?
And will it be the same for 2010, 2017 and 2024 versions?

Thank you

Hi Dominic,

The Elevator mechanical room would be Building Common Area under BOMA 1996, BOMA Office 2010, BOMA Office 2017 and BOMA Office 2024.

The pits (at the lowest level of the elevator shaft) are MVP under BOMA Office 1996 and BOMA Office 2010 but under BOMA Office 2017 and BOMA Office 2024, they are Building Service Area.

Thanks,
David
