Thanks Adam.
I've read many 'local guidelines' on the internet from various provinces and states, are there any other established standards in existence?

Is this new standard intended to be used to quantify hotel condos?
Hi Ed,
Hotels are not specifically cited, but I think they are generally covered by the scope which reads...
"This standard is intended for measurement of floor areas in new and existing multi-unit residential buildings containing 4 or more living units including not only rental apartments but also residential condominiums, cooperatives, and other types of common interest communities where required or permitted by their declarations and/or local statutes. This standard does not address single unit homes, duplex or triplex residential buildings, townhomes, row houses or cluster houses."
Keep in mind that the application and use of the Standard is completely voluntary.
Thanks Adam.

I am not aware of other standards that focus on multi-unit residential.
In the past and for lack of options, some building owners and hotel operators have resorted to standards intended for other building types. For example, I am aware of some hotels utilizing BOMA office standards to qualify their areas.
I would not recommend this course of action, but you may be able to justify it in some instances.
I'll get the Multi-unit Residential standard and review its suitability with the owners.
Thanks again.
