Stacked parking garages

How are stacked parking garage areas calculated that are outside the boundaries of the building floor plate? For instance, I am working on a BOMA project for a building that shares a large parking garage with one or two other buildings. It has stacked verticals that align with the building core, and other stairs that are quite a distance from the building footprint.

Hi Lewis,

The BOMA 20187 Office Standard states that in order for Parking to be included, it must be either be Fully Enclosed or Partially Enclosed (ceiling and floor), and:

"The parking structure must be vertically stacked, joined, or attached to the Building by a Connector with the same municipal address and ownership as the Building under study"

If the parking structure is shared with other buildings and has the same owner and same municipal address and is all part of a connected office complex (Multi-Building Set) then you should be ok to include it.

Thanks,
David
