Shared Exit Corridor

Andy Stevenson

Hello,
When two retail tenants share an exit corridor, is that corridor considered rentable space? If so, would the square footage of the corridor be split in two and cost per square foot shared by both tenants?
Thank you!

Hi Andy,

No it is not considered Rentable Area (or Gross Leasable Area) under the BOMA 2020 Retail Standard; however, the proportionate share of the corridor can be determined in the Global Summary of Areas using Inter-Building Area calculations in order to help with CAM charges and other maintenance related expenses.

Thanks,
David
