Brace Frames

Jill

April 8, 2022

Hi! I am using Method B and there is a brace frame in my BBC area and tenant areas that create un-occupiable space for either circulation or tenant use. For the BBC area, should I calculate the 5 feet not including the brace frame area or is it okay to include it?

Hi Jill,

On page 39, the standard states:

BBC shall not encroach into any areas of a Permanent nature, such as non-circulation Floor Service Areas and Building Service Areas. Furthermore, BBC should not extend exclusively to any Non-Permanent Service or Amenity Area.

Therefore, your BBC should not be within the brace frame area.

Thanks,
David
