Arena / ice rink

Which category would an interior arena belong to? which method would I apply if office space occupied the upper floors and the adjacent spaces are industrial? Would I have to determine a common gross-up factor?

Hi Andrea,

There is no BOMA standard specifically made for an arena or ice rink; however, the correct standard to use is usually based according to the primary use of the building. So if more than 50% of the building is office space, the office standard should be applied. The BOMA Gross Areas standard is meant to be applied to any building type, so that's another option but there is no gross-up (or Load Factor) in that standard.

Thanks,
David
