Building Efficiency

How can we get the efficiency percentage of the office building from the (R/U)Ratio ?

Hi Sarah,

I think there are different ways to look at building efficiency from an area perspective. One way is to simply divide the Rentable Area (or in some cases "Reallocated Rentable Area") by the Occupant Area. This is called the Load Factor. The resulting number can be converted to a percentage (1.25321 for example is 25.3%). This calculation may be done on an Occupant-by-Occupant basis, Floor-by-Floor basis or to the Building total. Either way, you will see the Load Factor or the ratio of common areas to Occupant Areas, which tells you something about the efficiency of the building.

Thanks,
David
