Major Vertical Penetrations adjacent to exterior walls

Reading through the 2010 Office Building standard, I clearly see that MVPs are measured from the far side in most cases. However, in the illustrations, the elevator shafts and stairwells are always shown at the centre of the floor plan. The office tower I'm measuring has ventilations shafts, elevator shafts and stairwells along an exterior wall. When measuring MVP do I use the exterior face of wall or the interior face and far side for the walls facing inside the building?

MVP along an exterior wall is measured to the dominant surface of the interior as per the IGA Boundary Conditions.
