Common area charge back to tenant

John Kuczura

To Whom It May Concern:

The introduction to the ANSI/BOMA Z65.5-2010 - Retail Buildings standard (page 1) states that Exterior Gross Area (EGA) is “… fundamental to the calculation of rent and common area charges…”

Does BOMA offer any guidance as to a preferred methodology in how the common area may be charged back to the tenant?

Thank you,
John Kuczura.

Hi John

The BOMA Retail Standard does not calculate any charge back (or pro-rated share) of common area to any tenants.
