Common walls

Hi I have ordered the BOMA guide to multi unit measurements, but I have a question. On common walls in an apartment, do you measure to center of wall? Are outside walls measured to outer edge? Thank you so much,
Russ

Russ,

The Standard offers two measurement methods, Gross and Net. The gross method (Method A) includes the full thickness of exterior walls, and measures to the center of demising walls between units. The net method (Method B) measures to the inside finished surface of all enclosing walls.

The Standard makes no recommendation regarding the use of Method A or B, but leaves it to the buildng owner to decide which best suits the building and/or local market practices.
