Wall priority diagram

I am in the process of prioritizing walls for a project. The problem that I have, is that I am uncertain as to what is considered the near side wall surface, and which is the far side wall surface.

For example. If there are two categories next to eachother but seperated by a wall (we'll say a floor service area and a building service area). The chart says that the line goes to the far side of the wall surface. Which side is the far side and why?

Thanks!

Hi Marc,

It's not a very good diagram, but the idea is to look at it starting from the left. If you are looking for the wall priority between Floor Service Area and Building Service Area, you can start with Floor Service Area on the left of the diagram and see that it is to the Near Side of Building Service Area. That means Floor Service Area does not have priority over Building Service Area. Therefore a Floor Service Area room adjacent to Building Service Area will be measured to the inside and Building Service Area will take the entire thickness of the wall that separates them.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
David
